Watch informative webinar here AAEP/EDCC EHV-1 Updates
This informative article discusses the risks of using corticosteroids in metabolic syndrome horses, but they are not the only ones at risk for complications resulting from their use. Horses with concerns regarding insulin dysregulation and/or PPID (Cushing's-like syndrome) are advised to be treated with orthobiologics like PRP (platelet rich plasma), IRAP (interleukin receptor antagonist protein) or polyacrylamide gels. As well as horses requiring multiple areas to be treated within a short time period. It's always best to discuss all of the options with your treating veterinarian.
